WiFi and Video Senders

If you and your not-too-far neighbours use WiFi equipment, you may find all this sounding familiar. Like many of you I have a WiFi network at home, and I have always left the channel selection of my access point set to “Auto” as the system always found a suitable channel that served the whole house. There were some other WiFi networks around but this has never been a big problem until recently when one of my neighbours bought a new TV and video sending/streaming equipment. This has turned my WiFi into an almost useless connection as his equipment occupies so many channels that it is now impossible to find a  usable frequency. There would be a few channels available (10 and 11), but these are now occupied by a network extender so getting the WiFi to work is now really difficult.

In the attempt of resolving this situation, I bought a network extender. It works really when there is some space available in the frequency spectrum well but with such interference to fight against even the extender can’t do enough to improve the situation. My next step will be to but some power line adapters and use them to feed a couple of other access points, these should resolve the intercommunication problem as the main router would redistribute via the electricity wiring and then the access points would do the rest.

Let’s see how it goes, however these video sender are real WiFi killers. In my opinion they should be made illegal!
