Trends of the 21st Century: women shaving their arms

My attention was recently drawn to a trend that seems to be gathering pace among women across Europe. It started when my wife was telling me about one of her colleagues who, tired of shaving her arms, decided to try a permanent hair removal treatment.

My wife has a fair skin and her body hair is blond and thin. To give an idea, she can get away without shaving her legs for a couple of weeks and you would only notice her hair against direct light. So as she was telling me about her colleague she asked me what I thought of the hair on her arms. My answer was that they look like her legs and that you can barely notice how much hair there is on them but that it would be interesting to see how they look without hair.

Prompted by this, I started noticing around that so many women shave their arms nowadays and that the effect is actually quite good and attractive, not the looks itself in my opinion, but the fact that women take care of grooming them. The topic came out again with my wife and after a few days she decided to give it a try to see how it feels. From my perspective, they feel great, really smooth. They also look great. Especially under direct light, her arms now look almost shiny and polished. Also, arms hair seems to be growing more slowly than legs hair, so it seems to require less maintenance.

It’s now a few months since she started shaving her arms regularly and she never stopped. The interesting thing is that this is not, as commonly thought, because of regrowth or stubble, of which she has little or none, but because of the feeling of having smooth and shiny arms. In her own words: she is now addicted to this feeling… and I feel addicted too!

WiFi and Video Senders

If you and your not-too-far neighbours use WiFi equipment, you may find all this sounding familiar. Like many of you I have a WiFi network at home, and I have always left the channel selection of my access point set to “Auto” as the system always found a suitable channel that served the whole house. There were some other WiFi networks around but this has never been a big problem until recently when one of my neighbours bought a new TV and video sending/streaming equipment. This has turned my WiFi into an almost useless connection as his equipment occupies so many channels that it is now impossible to find a  usable frequency. There would be a few channels available (10 and 11), but these are now occupied by a network extender so getting the WiFi to work is now really difficult.

In the attempt of resolving this situation, I bought a network extender. It works really when there is some space available in the frequency spectrum well but with such interference to fight against even the extender can’t do enough to improve the situation. My next step will be to but some power line adapters and use them to feed a couple of other access points, these should resolve the intercommunication problem as the main router would redistribute via the electricity wiring and then the access points would do the rest.

Let’s see how it goes, however these video sender are real WiFi killers. In my opinion they should be made illegal!

Is it only me thinking that this was pretty bad taste?
